A Day in Dumbo: Photographing a Heartfelt Project Filled with Family, Babies, and a Very Friendly Dog
Some design stories begin with fabric swatches or Pinterest boards. This one began with two pregnant women and a shared vision of home.
While I was expecting my second daughter, I received a message from a lovely client who was pregnant with twins - a boy and a girl. Our first conversation already felt special. She and her husband had just moved into their new apartment in Dumbo, Brooklyn, and wanted help creating a cozy, functional, and beautiful space for their growing family (including their beloved dog!).
We worked through every detail - from furniture layout to the warm slate color in the bathroom - and step by step, their space came to life. Fast forward several months, and her twins were now 5 months old… and my baby girl was only 1 months old. It was time to celebrate the completed project with a professional photoshoot.
And what a fun day it was!
We worked with the wonderful photographer Edward Menashy, whose calm, professional energy made everything easy. He didn't just take beautiful photos - he helped adjust decor, fluffed pillows, styled the bed, and made the home look exactly as it feels: full of love, care, and intention.
The shoot was full of life - babies cooing, a joyful pup bouncing around, my husband gently rocking our baby in the corner while the client’s twins explored their beautiful new space. There’s even a behind-the-scenes clip of this sweet moment - it perfectly captures the spirit of that day.
One of the highlights? While Edward was photographing me and my husband in the living room, the family's adorable dog jumped into my lap out of nowhere - uninvited but very welcome. The resulting photo turned out so beautifully that, with our client's permission, we’re turning it into a postcard - a heartfelt invitation to bring warmth, joy, and thoughtful design into your home, too.
Working with families like this one reminds me why I love what I do. Interior design is not just about spaces — it’s about people, stories, and creating a home that grows with you.
If you’re moving into a new place or ready to refresh your current one, I’d be honored to help you shape a space that feels like home for you, your loved ones, and maybe even a very enthusiastic dog.
Warmly,
